Kansas has much unfinished business in tournament.

Kirk Hinrich could have gone to the NBA last spring.

All he had to do was put his name on the draft list and wait for the call. But the star guard decided to come back for his senior year at Kansas. One reason was economics: Hinrich wasn’t sure when that call from the NBA would come, and he figured another year of collegiate seasoning wouldn’t hurt his draft stock.

But there was another reason, and it’s driving Hinrich as he leads the second-seeded Jayhawks against No. 3 Duke in the West Regional semifinals Thursday night.

“I had unfinished business,” Hinrich said before the Jayhawks practiced Wednesday at Arrowhead Pond. “I got a taste of our goal last year and I had to give it another try.”
